The class will be run as a collective independent study with each student proposing a line of readings they want to discuss with me, and with their peers.

This list must be discussed with me in the first two or three weeks of the semester. I will make suggestions for additions/substractions.

There are three basic requirements:

1. class presentation on some literature review of a topic or author based on the list proposed by the student and approved by me in our initial meetings.
   1. This presentation must be prepared ahead of the presentation by
      1. selecting a short reading from the author to be discussed that will be strongly recommended to the other students so that they can participate.
      2. post a brief introduction (about 200 words) on Canvas ahead of the presentation.
2. active participation in class and in discussions on Canvas.
   1. every registered student will be expected to write at least one brief comment after the class presentation of their colleague.
3. research paper either based on literature or based on research already conducted.

Exact requirements for receiving credit for the class will be handled individually.
