Dr. Aaron Hung mentioned this cartoon to me as we were looking for examples of how to represent the interactional linkages between activities in a large scale polity

It was linked on the Discover magazine blog "The intersection."

It should be read, for our purposes, as a map for a particular web (network in Latour's terms?) within which various institutions (labs, university PR offices, news organizations, etc.) ensnare various people (students, researchers, PR writers, journalists, ... grandmothers).  I suspect this may be fractal whether we moved to the sub-institutions and then particular settings and then moments when, for example, a student writes a sentence, or we moved to the over-institutions, for example, funders, politicians, etc.
