Discussion Group

A Discussion Group is also set up for students to exchange ideas about matters related to the course.

The class is mostly given in a lecture format with time for a limited number of questions. Many important issues may be raised for a very short time or not at all. The newsgroup is intended to remedy the limited amount of time available for discussion, to expand the number of topics related to any lecture that can be addressed in class and, I hope, to allow for more thoughtful discussion.

I expect that all students will contribute to the online discussion. I will monitor the discussion and, from time to time, respond to a thread.

I will take into consideration the extent and quality of a student's participation in the newsgroup when deciding on the final grade for the course. Last revision: January 25, 1999
