There are five or six slots for students to make a 10-15 minutes in class presentation on a matter closely related to the overall topic of a class session.
I am looking for students with a somewhat developed research project relating to such matters as gender, race, the media, conversation, disability, etc.. I am looking for students who already have some concrete illustrations from preliminary fieldwork. The goal is to enrich the corpus of instances of human interaction that we will consider at various times during the course of the semester.
The students will be expected to hand-in the revised text of this presentation a week after they have made it. This presentation and write-up will "count" as the 'mid-term' requirement.
If you are interested in doing this, come and talk to me as soon as possible.
